Residents of a little town on the prairie can thank the good memory of the guy who runs the local power plant and the character of a good Samaritan 1,000 miles away for the smooth, reliable flow of electricity to their homes.    

It’s a story that starts with two strangers and ends up connecting the 8,722 residents of Chanute, Kansas, with the 650 or so employees of New Mexico’s Chino operations and for that matter, the other 28,000 or so worldwide employees of Freeport-McMoRan.

Freeport-McMoRan reported third-quarter 2021 net income attributable to common stock of $1.4 billion, $0.94 per share, and adjusted net income attributable to common stock of $1.3 billion, $0.89 per share, after excluding net credits totaling $79 million, $0.05 per share, primarily associated with tax credits related to the release of valuation allowances at PT Freeport Indonesia and a gain on the sale of FCX's remaining cobalt business.

Freeport-McMoRan announced today that a notice has been issued to redeem on December 1, 2021, all of its outstanding $524 million aggregate principal amount of 3.55% Senior Notes due 2022 (3.55% Notes), at a redemption price equal to 100% of the principal amount of the 3.55% Notes outstanding, plus accrued and unpaid interest to, but not including, the redemption date. On October 21, 2021, U.S. Bank National Association, as trustee for the 3.55% Notes, distributed to the registered note holders written notice of the terms of this redemption.
