To:        All Freeport-McMoRan Employees

From:   Josh Olmsted, President and Chief Operating Officer-Americas

I am deeply saddened to share that Miguel Ytalaque Castillo, a contractor with MCM Ingenieros, passed away from injuries suffered in an accident that occurred April 24 while working on the construction of the new in-pit crush and convey system at Cerro Verde.

On behalf of the global Freeport organization, our hearts go out to his family, friends and the entire Cerro Verde team, and we are providing support to Miguel’s family during this incredibly difficult time.

The safety and well-being of everyone at our sites is our highest priority, and this loss is a painful reminder of the responsibility we all share. I ask that everyone take a few moments to reflect on your personal commitment to safety and the role you play in keeping yourself and others safe.

An investigation is underway, and the company is working with all relevant authorities and agencies.
