I am pleased to announce the formation of a core team to lead Freeport's Reinvent Mining initiative, which leverages innovation and technology to help ensure our operations remain strong, efficient and safe for generations to come. This initiative is one of five strategic themes essential to achieving our targets by being the best at the basics.
- Joining me on the steering committee are Josh Olmsted, President and Chief Operating Officer-Americas, and Cory Stevens, Senior Vice President and President-FM Technical Services. Together, we will provide program governance and strategic direction.
- Steve Bradbury, Director-Operational Strategy, will lead the core team’s day-to-day efforts. The core team is responsible for developing our innovation roadmap and includes the following individuals, with their focus area noted in parenthesis:
- Brian Njenga, Business Solutions Architect III (end-to-end optimization strategy)
- Umut Erol, Principal Engineer II-Metallurgy (concentrating)
- Raquel Crossman, Principal Engineer II-Metallurgy (leaching and metallurgy)
- Steve Bastian, Chief Mine Engineer (mine planning)
- Robert Chaplain, Manager-Strategic Category Management (supply chain)
- Angie Green, Manager-Accounting (finance)
- Mike Kridel, Senior Vice President-Morenci, and David Rhoades, former General Manager-Sierrita (consultant), will serve as senior program advisors. They will help ensure alignment between site operations and the core team.
In addition, a team at Morenci has been laying the groundwork to support this initiative. Led by Toby Dunn, Vice President-Morenci, the team includes Fio Giana, General Manager-Mining, Danny Benavidez, Mine Superintendent, and Cheikh Mohamed, Haulage Manager. Amy Sexton, Vice President-Operational Excellence and Robert Catron, Director-Global Data and Analytics, will support this team.
This collaboration is crucial to our success and demonstrates our ability to work together effectively.
