After 32 years of dedicated service, David Rhoades, General Manager-Sierrita, will be retiring at the end of February.
David began his career with Freeport as a dispatch engineer at Morenci and has since held various leadership roles in our North America operations. His leadership and significant contributions have left a lasting impact on the company.
Effective March 1, 2025, Grant Egginton, currently Mine Manager-Sierrita, will become General Manager-Sierrita. He will report to me.
Grant joined Freeport in 2023, bringing with him 29 years in the mining industry. He previously worked at South 32, a globally diversified mining and metals company, where he was responsible for site operations at its Hermosa Project in Arizona and Cannington Mine in Queensland, Australia. Before joining South 32, he had a 16-year career at BHP Billiton, serving in a broad range of mine engineering and management roles in Australia and Chile.
Grant has extensive experience in mining operations management, with a focus on leading people, safe and reliable operations, and continuous improvement. He holds a graduate diploma in applied finance from Kaplan University and a bachelor’s degree in engineering from the University of Wollongong in Australia.
Please join me in supporting Grant in his new role and wishing David all the best in his retirement.
