Iowa Sen. Joni Ernst recently toured the company’s Fort Madison operation, met with site leadership and discussed the importance of molybdenum across numerous applications.
The Republican senator, who assumed office in 2015, visited the site as part of her annual River to River Tour in which she talks with constituents from around the state about issues most impacting them. Ernst was joined on the visit by Collin Brecher, Associate Director, Political Mobilization, at the American Chemistry Council.
“It was a really great experience because I learned so much about the product; they call it moly for short,” Ernst said in a story in the Fort Madison Daily Democrat. “It goes into vitamins, it goes into steel, it goes into product that goes into our fields, so there’s so much use for moly. And little did we know that it’s right here in Lee County. So, it was a fantastic tour. We learned a lot about the industry.”
This was Ernst’s first visit to the site. In addition to the Fort Madison Daily Democrat, local television station WGEM provided coverage of the tour.
Members of the Fort Madison team accompanying Ernst on the visit included Amy Conlee, Senior Social Performance Specialist; Sarah Johnson, Manager-Moly Operations; Dravin Mahes, General Manager; and Jamee Allen, Government Relations Representative.
“I appreciate Sen. Ernst’s interest in learning more about the Fort Madison operation and the important work our team members perform every day,” Mahes said.
