Freeport’s use of technology to boost productivity in Chile and El Abra’s approach to the anticipated global copper shortage are among the topics Josh Olmsted, President and Chief Operating Officer-Americas, addressed in a report that showcases the mining industry in Chile.
Olmsted was interviewed by Global Business Reports for its recently published, “Chile Mining 2024,” a report covering mining trends in that country. Olmsted’s interview can be viewed on Page 16 of the report.
“We are using data analytics in mining, optimizing truck fleets with remote monitoring and proactive maintenance, and leveraging data to improve recoveries, like with our leaching initiatives,” Olmsted said in the report.
The report, which includes more than 150 interviews with industry leaders in Chile, aims to help stakeholders gain a better understanding of the issues impacting Chile’s mining sector.
