It’s time to gear up and give back to communities through volunteerism during the company’s annual Global Volunteer Month in April.
This month-long celebration of service encourages employees to unite in serving local communities through site-supported projects. Each April, hundreds of volunteers lend their time and talent to help their communities grow and thrive.
Activities are coordinated on a site-by-site basis, focusing on biodiversity and community skill-building initiatives. Specific project information will be shared at each site. For information or questions, contact Social Performance team members Brad Weiser or Vicky Waithe.
Global Volunteer Month launched in 2003 with the start of the company’s employee volunteer program. Last year, employees, their families and friends donated 1,454 hours (about 2 months) to projects ranging from greenhouse construction to riverbed cleanups to student career fairs.
Employee volunteerism is one way the company supports and fosters corporate citizenship globally. In addition to company-sponsored projects, Freeport offers funds to eligible non-profit organizations where employees volunteer. Learn more at FreeportInMyCommunity.com.
