Company’s Social Media Year in Review

From interns to site activity to employee perspectives, the company’s most popular social posts in 2023 ran the gamut. 

Thanks to these stories and the more than 750 other posts in 2023, the company saw a significant increase in followers across all its social media channels, most notable being Freeport-McMoRan’s LinkedIn follower count pushing past 200,000 late last year.

Below are the company’s top five performing social media posts of 2023.

  1. Richard Adkerson, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Kathleen Quirk, President, and other members of the company’s leadership team watching Caterpillar demonstrate its new battery electric prototype truck led the year with 273,093 impressions (how many times the post was viewed) and 2,468 reactions (likes, shares, and comments).
  2. A video congratulating Morenci’s Joe Herrera on his retirement and more than 53 years of dedicated service had more than 162,955 impressions and 8,109 reactions. 
  3. A post featuring career advice from Shannon Del Curto, Safford’s Health and Safety Senior Supervisor garnered 55,610 impressions and 3,547 reactions.   4. Rescue teams from Freeport-McMoRan's mine sites in Arizona, New Mexico and Colorado conducting a two-day cross-training event for emergency response readiness in Safford drew 51,544 impressions and 1,951 reactions.
  5. Freeport-McMoRan's summer interns rounded out the top five with a post on National Intern Day, with 36,045 impressions and 2,841 reactions.
