Tracy Bame, Freeport-McMoRan’s Director of Social Performance, recently was named the 2023 recipient of Education Forward Arizona’s Luminary Award.

The award recognizes the work of Bame and her team to develop strategies and programs that help build sustainable and resilient communities through education throughout Arizona.

Bame, who also serves as President of the Freeport-McMoRan Foundation, leads the company’s social performance programs in the Americas.

“We believe in engaging in dialogue and listening to our communities, stakeholders and partners to understand how we can help address the most pressing needs of our local communities,” Bame said. “Education is always at the top of the list. By investing in programs that provide education access and opportunity, our efforts not only help individuals and families increase their social and economic mobility but also increase the resilience and prosperity of Arizona by ensuring we have a qualified talent pipeline that attracts and retains jobs within the state.”

Through initiatives such as DreamBuilder, Dig Into Mining, the Freeport-McMoRan Native American Scholarship Program and partnerships with higher education institutions, Bame’s work has made a lasting impact on students across Arizona, said Rich Nickel, President and CEO of Education Forward Arizona.

“At Education Forward Arizona, we’ve seen Tracy’s exceptional vision, passion and commitment to education first-hand,” Nickel said. “We are thrilled to be able to honor her statewide work that has positively impacted Arizona students.”

Bame will be honored by Education Forward Arizona at its An InpsirED Evening event on October 25.
