As part of Freeport-McMoRan’s commitment to providing a safe workplace for all employees, the company is changing the process it uses to conduct random drug testing to make it quicker and easier.
Starting today, the procedure for random drug testing at the company’s North America sites will be a mouth swab test instead of a urine drug test.
Mouth swab testing is now the method used for random drug testing at the company’s North America sites.Mouth swab testing is a quick and hassle-free process that can be performed without the need for private restrooms and significantly reduces waiting time. The test is conducted by swabbing the inside of the mouth, making it a more comfortable and discreet for employees.
“The decision to switch to swab testing was made after considering several factors, including overall experience for employees undergoing the test and ease of administration,” said Swen Gunderson, Director-HR Business Partner.
Information gathered during the new process is confidential. The method complies with the company's drug and alcohol policy and currently is used by Freeport-McMoRan in other regions.
