To: All Freeport-McMoRan Employees

From: Richard Adkerson, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer

Date: April 28, 2023

As we observe World Day for Safety and Health at Work, I am personally reflecting on our recent safety performance and am reaffirming to you our Company’s commitment to a safe workplace for all employees.

Through the years, Freeport has operated with a core value of prioritizing safety above all else. This has been a personal point of emphasis for our Board, our Executive Management Team and our global organization.

Our recent safety performance, especially for North America, is concerning. In addition to the increasing number of reportable incidents, we are experiencing more high-energy events. I am concerned we are possibly becoming more tolerant of this, which would be unacceptable and contrary to the safety culture we have all worked so hard to develop and implement.

With safety as our top priority and a core value, we all must commit to achieving and maintaining a safe and healthy workplace and using training, tools and resources provided. We must embrace and share in this commitment by acting every day to protect our personal safety and the safety of our colleagues. Our leaders have responsibility to demonstrate, teach and support safe work practices.

Each of us should assess risks before starting work, follow safety procedures and be alert for one another. Be willing to speak up and stop work if it is not safe. Hold yourself and others around you accountable for actions taken.

Our Company’s objective is zero workplace injuries. I urge you to acknowledge the importance of working safely for yourself, your families and your coworkers. Let’s all recommit to upholding and advancing our safety culture.

As we work to improve our safety performance, we must communicate openly and transparently to reinforce safety expectations and personal accountability. We also want to know your concerns and recommendations for a safer workplace. Share your thoughts with your supervisors and other leaders.

Each of us has the responsibility to put Safety First.
