Arizona Rep. Juan Ciscomani recently toured Safford operations, met with site leadership and discussed future growth of the mine.
Rep. Juan Ciscomani hears information about the Safford mine. Ciscomani represents Arizona’s Sixth Congressional District, which includes both Safford and Morenci operations. Ciscomani previously visited Morenci in August.
Graham County Supervisor John Howard joined Ciscomani on the tour, where they were briefed on issues critical to the growth of the Safford mine and the copper mining industry. Richard Bark, Director-Government Relations and Environmental Counsel, and Sean Wenham, Manager-Strategic Community Development, worked with Ciscomani’s staff to organize the visit. Safford General Manager Vicki Seppala and Safford Mine Manager Bret Hunt hosted the elected officials on the visit.
“I appreciate the desire of Congressman Ciscomani and Supervisor Howard to learn about our issues and making us a priority,” Seppala said.
Ciscomani was elected to the newly formed Sixth Congressional District in 2022.
In a post to his Twitter account following the tour, Ciscomani wrote, “The Safford Mine is a key economic driver for our region and our state. Protecting this critical industry is a top priority for me.”
