Key to a great start in any new job is quick, easy access to company information, resources and tools – all of which can be found on an enhanced onboarding website recently debuted by the company for North America new hires.

“Freeport’s recruiting and onboarding efforts go hand in hand,” said Pam Masson, Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer. “Once someone joins the company, our goal is to provide a positive and productive onboarding experience that sets them up for success starting day one, and the website is part of this experience.”

A collaboration between Human Resources and MIS, the enhanced site connects new employees with what they need to get started and settled in their new role. This includes information via tutorials and videos on the company and its mining operations, benefits, technology resources, talent development and more.

It also provides hiring managers with a variety of tools to help welcome new employees – from digital forms to request assets and access to tips and tricks for team introductions and virtual onboarding.

While designed for new hires, current employees may find the site useful too, as it offers a refresher on common topics of interests, such as how to:

  • Use Employee Self Service and Total Rewards
  • Stay up to date on company news through FM Web and the FirstUp employee app
  • Access training resources
  • Learn more about the company’s global operations, metals and the mining process
  • Discover and access employee discounts and engagement programs

In addition, the company has created a new role focused on enhancing the employee onboarding experience.

“We are pleased to have Carlton Thompson assume the role of Manager-Employee Experience and Onboarding, which will focus on various aspects of the employee lifecycle process,” Masson said. “For example, soliciting feedback, setting up touchpoints to connect with new hires throughout their first year of employment and focusing on our cross-boarding process for employees who transfer from one site to another.

“We look forward to additional enhancements for new and transferring employees as we further advance this work.”
