We are pleased to announce the following changes within Climax Molybdenum Company and PT Freeport Indonesia effective June 1, as the company takes next steps to build the Manyar smelter project team.
Anand Raman, currently Vice President-Technology overseeing molybdenum downstream operations, will move to Indonesia to assume the new position of Vice President Site Operations-Smelter and Refining. In this role, Anand will oversee all operational aspects of the new Manyar smelter and the precious metal refinery in Gresik, East Java, Indonesia. He will report to H-D.
The Manyar smelter is designed to process more than 1.7 million tons of copper concentrate per year, and the precious metal refinery will process more than 6,000 tonnes of anode slimes from both the new smelter and expanded PT Smelting facilities. These key operational facilities are in construction phase and are expected to be completed in 2024.
Anand joined the company in 1990 as a process engineer and held various roles at company sites in Arizona and New Mexico. In 2009, he moved to the company’s now-sold Tenke Fungurume mine in the Democratic Republic of Congo as Senior Process Plant Manager. He returned to the U.S. in 2013 as Vice President-Technology at the Phoenix corporate office.
He has a Master of Science in Metallurgical Engineering from the University of Missouri Rolla and a Master of Business Administration from Western New Mexico University.
Leanice Hart, General Manager Administration-Climax, also will serve as Acting Vice President-Technology. Leanice joined the company in 2010 as a Human Resources manager. In 2011, she moved to Tenke Fungurume, staying there when the site was sold. She rejoined the company in 2018 as a Corporate Senior Advisor at PT Freeport Indonesia before moving to the Phoenix corporate office in 2020. She will report to Mike.
She has a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and French from Colby College in Waterville, Maine, and a master's degree in Human Resources Management from Keller Graduate School of Management in Atlanta.
Please join me in wishing Anand and Leanice success and offering your support in their new roles.
