The Miner Magazine is Back

By svc-ewscms, 16 May, 2025

(April 29, 2022) After a two-year hiatus, The Miner magazine is back and available online in desktop and mobile formats.

The new edition includes a Question and Answer discussion with Josh Olmsted, President and Chief Operating Officer-Americas about the significance of the 2022 strategic themes as well as stories on Bagdad’s drive to 95,000 and why molybdenum prices are rising.

In the following column that appears in the publication, Linda Hayes, Vice President-Communications, reintroduces The Miner to employees and highlights this edition’s features:

It’s Great to Be Back

For many of you, the tools you use on a daily basis are critical to performing your job in the most effective manner possible.

It’s the same for communicators. As those charged with sharing the stories about the important work you all perform, we rely on various mediums – our tools, if you will – to deliver that content to our colleagues and various external audiences.

Since it first launched in 2016, the Miner magazine has been among our most effective means for engaging our colleagues in the work being carried out across our North America sites. The magazine format enables us to dig deeper into your stories in a highly visual way, and reader feedback has been positive.

Unfortunately, the Miner was a casualty of COVID-19. In early 2020, we had our latest issue all but wrapped up and sent to the printer when our priorities quickly changed. Suddenly, our focus shifted to helping ensure our workforce had important information in real time so we could all better understand how we could best protect our employees, their families, communities and our business.

Two years later, we are slowly emerging from our pandemic focus and heartened at the resilience our workforce demonstrated in positioning the company for continued success through multiple challenges. Now, I’m pleased to let you know the Miner is back.

Among the features in this issue is a Q&A with Josh Olmsted, President and Chief Operating Officer-Americas where he discusses the 2022 strategic themes and their importance to the organization’s continued success. In addition to learning more about the direction of the company, this Q&A will provide a glimpse into Josh’s own priorities and help you get to know him a little better.

Finally, this issue of the Miner is the first that is completely paperless. The overnight shift to remote work for some of us demonstrated that mobile technology tools are effective. With this shift, it only made sense to move the Miner online. Our new platform will provide greater interactivity, allowing us to collect feedback and data on the types of stories that interest you most.

Thank you for reading.
