12th Annual Wildlife Photo Contest Starts Today

(March 2, 2022) Gear up, grab your camera or phone, and start snapping photos of wildlife to enter in the company’s 12th annual Wildlife Photo Contest, today through April 15.  

Submit your favorite photos of wildlife for a chance to appear on the company’s pages of the Wildlife Habitat Council’s Weekly Engagement Calendar. The calendar highlights conservation and biodiversity efforts of WHC members, including Freeport-McMoRan.  

The top two winning photo entries will be featured in the calendar, and the top 12 finalists will be shared internally through various company communications channels, including a computer lock screen.  

CONTEST DETAILS

Dates: Today – April 15 

How to Enter: Upload your photo(s) to the contest website

What to Enter: 

  • Photos of wildlife on or adjacent to company property – must be taken within a reasonably close distance from a site to be considered adjacent 
  • Subject matter can include everything from mammals and reptiles to bugs and plants
  • No pictures of pets or domesticated animals, safari trips or random wildlife seen on vacation
  • Photos may be taken in the past year – do not re-enter photos from previous contests

Please note: By submitting your photo to the Wildlife Photo Contest, you are authorizing the company royalty-free use of your photo in various internal and external communications materials.

Digital Requirements: JPEG or TIFF file and 300 dpi or greater. Use the highest resolution your camera will allow. 

Finalist / Winner Selection: Members of the company's Biodiversity Task Force will select the finalists and winning photos based on the following:  

  • Location – the photo captures wildlife in action in its natural setting on or adjacent to company property, with priority consideration given to operating and discontinued sites that have wildlife programs tied to their environmental efforts
  • Quality – overall composition, image resolution and clarity
  • Relevance – to sustainability and wildlife enhancement efforts at the site
  • Subject matter – how unique the subject is to the site
