(January 5, 2022) The company is excited to announce a new benefit giving eligible employees 80 hours of paid leave after the birth, adoption or foster care placement of a child.
The new benefit was added after reviewing company policies and benefits to find ways to be more inclusive.
“At Freeport, we value families and understand how important the first few months spent with a new child are for all parents,” said Pam Masson, Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer. “Additional paid leave for new mothers and new fathers benefits families by giving them more time together to create stronger bonds and adjust to new routines while at the same time helping to increase employees’ financial security.”
The new policy is effective as of January 1, 2022. The Leave Management department will help employees with parental leave the same way they help with other kinds of leave. The parental leave days are flexible and work in conjunction with the Family and Medical Leave Act. Review the new policy here.
This additional paid leave is another leave option along with PTO, short-term disability (for mothers giving birth) and unpaid leave when welcoming a new child. Research shows parental leave enhances both the physical and mental health of families.
