I am pleased to announce that Emily Olson will be joining Freeport-McMoRan on September 1 as Vice President-Global Strategic Relations. In this newly created role, Emily will support our global initiatives to maintain and build strong relationships with strategic stakeholders, global business and government leaders, and community leaders. She will report to me.
Emily’s broad experience in global affairs and public policy will assist us in expanding our networks with external bodies, non-governmental organizations and faith-based groups to protect and promote the reputation and external perceptions of our company.
Emily will partner with our local management and corporate Sustainability and Government Relations teams to share best practices across the organization, support strategic initiatives, and guide integrated global advocacy and related communications strategies. She also will assist in providing support to our project development teams on key non-technical risks.
Emily brings broad and valuable international experience to our organization. She joins Freeport following a successful 12-year career at BP, where she held positions of increasing responsibility in global roles involving government affairs, geopolitical risk management, strategy, and social and community investment programs.
In these roles, she was a trusted adviser to executive management and the board on a broad range of matters. Prior to joining BP, Emily worked in Washington, D.C., in public policy roles.
Emily is a graduate of Loyola University Chicago with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and received a Master of Arts in International Strategy and Diplomacy from the London School of Economics and Political Science.
Emily will be relocating from London with her husband, Bill, and their two daughters, Charlotte and Rose, and will be based in Phoenix.
I am thrilled to have an individual as capable and knowledgeable as Emily on our team. I know our organization will benefit from her experience. Please join me in welcoming her to the organization and providing support for her in this new role.
