The Morenci Social Performance team hosted two successful plant giveaway events in Morenci and Duncan, distributing native area plants, fruit plants and trees, as well as ladybugs and worms to promote sustainable gardening.
Morenci
The Social Performance team, along with many volunteers, set up tables featuring a variety of plants and insects. They provided educational materials and demonstrations to help attendees understand the benefits of their new plants and insects and how to care for them. Additionally, Heather Seegmiller, Senior Admin Assistant-Social Performance, invited the Greenlee County Chamber of Commerce to host a small local shopping market with independent vendors, enhancing the community experience.
Duncan
The Duncan event followed, with Heather's team ensuring attendees left with valuable knowledge and resources to enhance their gardens and support local biodiversity. In total, an estimated that 1,500 plants were distributed to the community.
Strengthening Community Connections
The events fostered community engagement and environmental stewardship, inspiring residents to take an active role in preserving their local ecosystems. The addition of the local market further strengthened community ties and supported local businesses.
Special thanks to the Morenci Social Performance team and all the volunteers who helped make Earth Day a fun and educational experience for everyone involved.
