Sierrita has set five strategic goals for 2025 that are important for both short-term and long-term success. Several projects supporting these initiatives are either ongoing or being launched this year. Sierrita’s Strategic Five for 2025 are: Employee Experience, Feed the Beast, Leach to the Last Drop, Moly Processing Optimization, and Drive to Sustainability.
EMPLOYEE EXPERIENCE is about ensuring that Sierrita is a great, safe place to work.
“That means making sure this is a place where everyone is looking out for each other, being focused on safety in everything we do, and continuing employee experience projects to make sure people have access to quality facilities,” said Concentrator Manager Graham Cooper.
“People are our greatest resource, and we have found that employee experience is a good investment,” said Engineering Manager Deepak Sodhi.
FEED THE BEAST focuses on safely maximizing productivity through the mill and building upon previous successes over the last several years.
LEACH TO THE LAST DROP is a company-wide initiative focused on extracting more copper from existing stockpiles.
“This is the most cost-efficient copper we can make,” said Cooper. “It’s already been mined, and it’s already placed, which means the cost and carbon footprint involved in leaching is very low.”
2025 is also bringing about exciting upgrades aimed at MOLY PROCESSING OPTIMIZATION.
“When I think of 2025, several things come to mind. This includes, Moly decant elimination, Chlorinator improvements, and the Tank House Rectifier replacement,” said Moly Processing Manager Brittany Varela.
Last, but not least, is DRIVE TO SUSTAINABILITY. The focus here is on maintaining the site’s success for many years to come.
“The last couple of years we have been performing great, and we want to keep that going,” said Sodhi. “This will be accomplished through the completion of critical projects and improvements to maintenance reliability systems.”
