Admin's old lineout wing gets makeover

By svc-ewscms, 16 May, 2025

A major remodeling project inside the Admin building is providing more and better workspace for Safford Mine, Engineering and Projects employees. After Crush and Convey offices and secondary control room were moved from Admin to the former Training building, construction crews began reconfiguring the old lineout areas and surrounding offices, removing some walls, changing the floorplan, installing new HVAC units, plus doing a lot of cleanup, repair and repainting.

Former Crush and Convey lineout room

In what were the Mine Operations and Crush and Convey lineout rooms, light fixtures have been lowered to brighten areas soon to be occupied by Engineering and Mine Operations employees. Future lineout meetings for all divisions will take place in the old fire barn (across from Admin), which also is being remodeled to accommodate meetings, training and other large group activity.

Former Mine Rescue team office

A new hallway now provides immediate access to the former Mine Rescue team office area, which previously was walled off from the rest of the Admin building and accessed from outside. When finished, the area will be the new location for Projects employees who have been stationed upstairs from the miners’ dry facilities at the west end of the building. Mine Rescue now is in the former Projects building complex east of the Safford leach pad ponds.

New Mine Dispatch room

Perhaps the most dramatic change thus far has been the overhaul of the mine dispatch center. The new layout provides dispatch personnel with a bigger, brighter and cleaner room than what they had. Improvements include new carpeting, new monitors and adjustable-height desks that enable employees to work while seated or standing.

Thanks to all our employees who collaborated to make this much needed remodel another success in our pursuit of value, exemplifying Safford at its Best!
