Empowered to Act, Safford Security staff collaborated as one Freeport in the pursuit of value to make their work environment more accessible and work-friendly. Their pooled ideas went into a recent remodel of the main gate office.
A new floor in the front section of the building replaces the old one, which was damaged with holes. A new granite counter installed both inside and outside the main gate processing window is higher than the old one to accommodate sitting or standing. In the small office, another granite counter now fills the length of the wall. Two new doors are installed - on the inbound and outbound sides, and another new door will be installed in the back of the building.
The input from Security staff drove key aspects of the remodel, including replacing the floor; moving the radio system to the center so both officers have easy access for emergencies; and relocating computers and scale monitors for more efficient workflow.
