Congratulations to the Safford MIS team! On November 5, they completed five years with no reportable incidents. That's quite a feat, considering all the different environments and conditions in which they regularly work.
"Our employees work in all areas of the mine — the pit, the leach pad, Hydromet, labs and virtually everything in between. Installing network gear often requires working in the pit, working from heights, using aerial platforms, and driving on seldom-traveled roads. MIS personnel must remain aware of all heavy equipment, familiarizing themselves with the best safety practices for boarding haul trucks, shovels, loaders and other machines, and knowing the rules for safely driving in active mining areas. Fiber reaches in to all areas of the mine, so MIS often has to enter areas with special safety considerations to work on fiber terminations and repairs. MIS works outdoors in the heat of summer and the cold of winter, in rain, in snow – whenever and wherever their services are needed."
