Rescue Team member trains with local responders in water rescue

This summer, Safford Rescue Team member Ray Bejarano joined Graham County Search and Rescue and other area first responders for swift-water training in the Gila Box conservation area. The participants refreshed their skills and preparedness for responding as a team to emergencies in fast-moving water, such as rivers and flash floods. Such inter-organizational collaboration is vital for adequately supporting the emergency response needs of the Gila Valley's rural community. Many of Safford's Response Team members also volunteer their time and skills serving on fire and medical response teams throughout the local community.
