Safford at its Best: Passing the Transformation Torch

Message from Jess Messick: As Safford’s previous transformation lead, Laura Hughes helped Safford start building a new high-performance culture using agile methods and Freeport Edge behaviors. With Laura’s move into a metallurgical role at Bagdad, I now am leading our site’s transformation efforts in the pursuit of value, consistently seeking opportunities that will take Safford to the next level. 

Our transformation — at Safford and throughout the company — will involve everyone at all levels living Freeport Edge daily. This effort provides each of us an opportunity to continuously improve by keeping an open mind, learning and, when it adds value, changing how we work.

Meeting and surpassing our 90K target was an excellent example and turning point for Safford in delivering value through an agile approach. It demonstrated that ambitious goals can be achieved by leveraging existing resources as well as the experience and expertise of existing employees, often with little or no capital investment needed.
